The SSTLN exists to support the work of those performing the role of the Teacher Librarian within our local primary and high schools.
As a network we aim to:
advocate for the essential role that libraries and teacher librarians play in our school communities
provide targeted professional development that informs and inspires our membership in their practice
ensure members are informed about relevant DOE policies and procedures
provide space for collegial conversations, mentorship and networking to expand and transmit skills and knowledge within our membership
provide opportunities for librarians to meet with authors and illustrators to expand their knowledge of texts and literature
connect with experts in curriculum and information technology to foster innovation in teaching and learning
The benefit of our professional network extends to all stakeholders in our local school communities as Teacher Librarians raise the profile of libraries within their own contexts. Strong school libraries result in communities who celebrate reading for pleasure, are critically literate and can navigate various information sources safely and competently.
